Building Proxy Objects

The proxy object is generated internally by PowerBuilder as a wrapping layer for the remote object. It defines the remote object's interface and instance variables and exists only on the client side to represent the remote object and redirects any messages and calls to it.

Select File > New menu option and double click on Proxy Library option located under Project tab page. Select Edit > Select Objects menu option and check product.pbl from the Libraries list and select ncst_Product_Master from the Objects list and click OK button. Select Edit > Properties menu option and specify product-proxy.pbl for the Output library and click OK button. Select Design > Build Project menu option. Now, if you visit Library painter and open product-proxy.pbl, you will find the proxy object for ncst_product_master object. You can identify the proxy object from the icon in the Library painter.

The client application requires access to an object's proxy object only, not to the physical object itself. You need to move/copy the actual user object into the server library. Create a new PowerBuilder library product-server.pbl in the same directory and copy ncst_product_master into product-server.pbl. Put product-proxy.pbl in the library list for the current application. Please note that you don't have to include product-server.pbl into the library list for the current application.
