Starting Jaguar CTS

If the Jaguar CTS is installed on a separate machine, then it is the time to ask the administrator to start it and setup an account for you. If you have installed Jaguar CTS on your Windows NT machine that you use to develop PowerBuilder applications, then you have to start it by yourself.

If you installed as an NT service, then you can skip this step, but make sure it is running. Open Services dialog box by selecting Settings > Control Panel from your Start menu and double clicking on the Services icon. The Status column should say Started as shown in the picture.

If it is not installed as a Windows NT service, then start it by selecting Jaguar Server menu option under Start > Program Files > Sybase > Jaguar CTS 3.0 menu and wait till you see 'Accepting Connections' message on the console as shown in the following picture.

If you have installed Jaguar as an NT service and try to start Jaguar from the Start bar you will get a ‘cannot open port’ error. The error indicates that the Server is already running, although there is no icon for it on your task bar. Just ignore this error and close the Jaguar console window that displays the above error. If you like, you can go into Control Panel > Services and change it to be a manual service. Then you will have to start it manually each time you want to use Jaguar.
